What is the difference between an Embark account and a traditional savings account?

Money kept in a traditional savings account earns interest very slowly, typically at a rate of less than 1% per year. Funds in an Embark account are channeled into financial portfolios that invest in a variety of mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, and other investment vehicles which are designed to earn money more quickly than a standard savings account. Better yet, the earnings from an Embark account can be withdrawn tax-free so long as they're used for qualified educational expenses.
